The PTIN renewal and registration for 2013 are now available. Regulations require all paid tax return preparers obtain a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). Preparers must renew their PTIN each year by December 31. The renewal fee is $63.00 and the initial application fee is $64.25. Please remember to confirm that your credentials and all other information is accurately listed.

For 2012 only, at renewal, RTRPs and prospective RTRPs are required to self-certify that they have completed or plan to complete their CPE requirements by December 31. Uploading supporting documents are not required.

We recommend that you locate your username and password before you start the renewal process. If you are experiencing difficulties logging in, please consult the PTIN Application/Renewal Assistance FAQ.
