Registered Tax Return Preparer – Testing Requirement Pushed to Dec. 31st 2013

The IRS issued notice that Tax Preparers who have already been issued a PTIN (preparers tax identification number) will have up until December 31st, 2013, to complete their testing requirement.  The test will be administered at over 260 Prometric locations across the US, and will be partially “open-book”.  The testing facilities will provide copies of IRS Publication 17 and the 1040 handbook for test takers assistance.  The IRS has not released an official date when 2011 PTINs will become available, but they have reiterated that “early October” is their goal.  This means, that if you do not have a PTIN as of yet… GET IT NOW!!!
