This course will cover amending individual tax returns and working with IRS form 1040X. We will review amending returns you initially prepared and also returns initially completed by other tax preparers, and how to get the information necessary to properly complete an amended return if your client does not have access to the information necessary. We will discuss the timelines relating to amended return filings, when to file, and when not to. We will get hands on with form 1040x and complete an amended return, discuss what forms to attach to the amended return when submitting it to the IRS, and where mail amended returns you create for your clients.
